Therefore, this apparently trifling shift in understanding of rationality may prove to have grave consequences. The understanding of rationality limited only to its methodological sense opens the door to problems which otherwise are significant for a methodologist (and many of them need a new treatment today) but which need not be connected, and which really are not connected, with a philosophical understanding of rationality (they do not pertain to such a philosophical conception).
